CALC - Conferences
Commonwealth Law Conference/CALC Conference, Hyderabad, February 2011
Planning is well under way for the CALC conference to be held in Hyderabad, India from Wednesday 9 February to Friday 11 February 2011. The overall theme is Legislative Drafting: A Developing Discipline, with sub-themes of:
- Legislative Drafting: Art, Science or Discipline?
- Legislative Counsel in Developing Countries
- Legislating Across Languages: The Challenges of Law-making in Multi-lingual Jurisdictions
- Role and Efficacy of Legislation
- Emerging trends in improving legislative drafting: Harnessing Information and Communication Technology
- The Wavering Line between Policy Development and Legislative Drafting
- Training and Development of Legislative Counsel/Drafters.
Confirmed speakers to date are Sandra Markman, Mark Audcent and Paul Salembier (Canada), Malietau Malietoa (South Pacific), Doug Bellis (USA), Duncan Berry (Australia/Ireland) and Peter Quiggin (Australia).
The CALC conference will be taking place in conjunction with the 17th Commonwealth Law Conference (CLC) in Hyderabad, India from Saturday 5 February to Wednesday 9 February. For further details, please see the CLC conference website at www.commonwealthlaw2011.org.
