This is a full day course conducted at OPC's premises and presented by experienced Publications staff. Course materials are provided.
The course is primarily designed for staff of Australian Government agencies who are, or will be, preparing and lodging compilations to be published on the Federal Register of Legislation. Attendees can expect to gain a thorough understanding of the processes and common issues involved in preparing and lodging compilations.
The course costs $500.00 per individual (GST not applicable). Morning and afternoon tea is provided.
The course covers the following topics:
- Legislative requirements of compilations
- The compilations process
- How to compile, including preparing Word settings
- Unique features of first compilations
- Incorporating amendments
- Misdescribed amendments
- Understanding and preparing the legislation and amendment histories (also known as the ‘endnotes’)
- How to lodge a compilation for registration on the Register and identifying common issues
- What to do when issues are identified post-registration
- Resources for continued reference
At the end of the course participants should have a better understanding of how to:
- Identify aspects of a compilation and take appropriate actions
- Prevent common issues from arising
- Understand and implement consistent compiling practices
